Course Information Guide

Booking a course

To make a booking, please visit our Workshop page and make your booking through Eventbright online.

(You can also book a course in person on a Wednesday evening, we can also accept card payments on those evenings)

Group sizes on our courses are limited, due to the size of the studio/darkroom, some courses that do not require the darkroom can be run with higher numbers, this will be indicated on the Eventbrite event page

All our courses come with materials provided, some courses may require you to send us images in advance (the cyanotype workshop for examples, where we turn your images into digital negatives ready for the start of the course).

No previous photography experience is needed for the majority of our courses and workshops, if any prior knowledge in needed we will state this in the course description.

Cancellation Policy

If you cannot attend the course, we are happy for you to give your booking to someone else, as long as you inform us by email, and we will swap their details, so that we can send any pre-course information.

If a refund is required we will give a full refund if cancelled before 7 days of the event, any less than that will incur a 20% cancellation charge.

What you will need

We will provide most of the materials you will need for your course, suggested extras will be indicated in the confirmation email, sent by the tutor of the course, or in the course description.

We have some aprons at the Workshop, but we do advise you bring your own or wear clothes that you do not mind getting stained with chemicals or dyes.

General Information

There will be complementary tea, coffee and biscuits at the workshop.

For full day workshops please bring lunch with you; alternatively, there are a range of shops and cafes close by in the city centre.

If your work is not dry you can leave it at the studio and collect at a later date. Whilst we take great care please note LLFP cannot take responsibility for work left in the studio or for any personal belongings left in the studio during or after the course.

Getting to the Workshop

We are right in the city centre, next to the Town Hall Square, if the Chapel is closed there will be a small plaque attached to the railings with a door buzzer attached, give it a ring and someone will come and let you in.

Arriving

The course will commence promptly at the time stated in the course details. Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before the start time. The tutor arrives early to prepare and needs the time prior to your arrival to ensure the workshop is appropriately set up for the course.

Clean up and departure

Courses usually finish on time. The tutor will ask you to begin cleaning up 15 minutes before the end of the course.

Access

Unfortunately, being based in an old church basement, we do not have disabled access, there is a couple of small flight of stairs into the basement. The darkroom is, as the name suggests, fairly dark when it’s in use, light is provided by small red lights on the walls and ceilings, so movement around the area should be done with care.
